Bruno Ferreira vs Marvin Vettori Targeted December: Fight That Can Shake Up The Middleweight Division.

4 months ago By Alvarez Alfredo

UFC is poised to take the year to the end with what will be a fire fight. Bruno Ferreira, or more commonly referred to as The Hulk, is reported to fight Marvin Vettori in December. The booking between the two men is interesting and there are lots of questions regarding the position of the two men in the middleweight scenario.

Since he joined UFC, Ferreira has been turning heads. His nickname fits perfectly. The Brazilian fights with pure aggression and brute strength, often overwhelming opponents with his power. He doesn’t like slow starts. At the very beginning he hits hard and glances to shatter the defence of his opponent. Fans love that kind of chaos. And to his credit it has been working. Ferreira owns video reel knockouts and a history of being one of the scale-skilled emergent boxers at 185 pounds.

Marvin Vettori has a much different energy. He is an experienced fighter in this department, a title contender in the past and among the most resilient fighters in the whole list. In case you want someone who does not flinch, Vettori is your man. He has fought the distance with Israel Adesanya, engaged Paulo Costa in a slugfest, and had fought virtually all the heavyweight hitters in the division over the course of the years. He does not give up even under circumstances when things are not working in his favor. He is a nightmare opponent to combatants who depend on snowing down opponents.

What really happens is this then; what will Ferreira do with his explosive style when it hits Vettori, with his granite chin and his inexorable pace?

The Case for Brunno Ferreira

The way to victory of Ferreira is easy and risky. He must get out quickly, strike hard and seek to get Vettori caught early. Ferreira possesses the type of knockout power that can alter a result within seconds. All it takes is one clean shot.

Another factor is the capacity of the Brazilian to close distance at a fast rate. He does not spend a lot of time probing adversaries. Ferreira can attack Vettori with moves that do not leave him time to recover, otherwise Vettori will swarm him. This has made it a winning formula against fighters who lack pressure resistance.

Vettori is not a fighter like most of the ones that Ferreira had encountered. That’s the challenge. It is one thing to land hard shots. It is a whole different thing to hold Vettori down.

The Case for Marvin Vettori

Vettori is a winner in the long combat. He is not the glitzy striker, but he possesses a strong basic, as well as a gas tank that hardly runs dry. Where Ferreira begins on the high note, Vettori gains momentum in the course of rounds. That could be the key here.

Provided that Vettori manages to get through the initial storm, he is bound to bring Ferreira to the deeper water. It is a time-tested tactic of MMA. Eschew the initial peril, And leave the other chap to flame. Ferreira has not been a gradualist, and when he is emptied at too fast a rate the gas tank will be filled up by Vettori.

Another weapon which cannot be neglected is the grappling by Vettori. Although he would rather strike, he can interchange takedowns and work the fight on the mat. That may be a brilliant tactic to delay matters and not lose the day trading bombs in the pocket, against someone like Ferreira.

What This Fight Means For The Division

This fight feels like a classic crossroads. Ferreira is the rising star who tries to demonstrate that he is not an outsider among the stars. Vettori is the old school that is attempting to hold on to his place in the ranking.

It would be monumental to Ferreira to beat Vettori. A punch to Vettori immediately puts him in the same league with the middleweight elite because of the resume Vettori has. It would demonstrate that his strength and violent approach could be used against not only the mid-level opponents. It would also demonstrate that he can deal with a fighter who does not fly easily.

In the case of Vettori, it is no less than that. He has lost a couple of fights of late, and inquiries into his ceiling in the division have begun to become increasingly more vociferous. A victory at this would quiet some of that noise. It would keep a reminder to people that he is still a tough guy at 185. Being beaten would be a great loss. Loss to a fighter who is not ranked or ranked low such as Ferreira might be a further push down the ladder and out of the title contest.

Why Fans Should Care

On the stylistic level, this confrontation has it all. Ferreira is dynamic, erratic and entertaining. Vettori is long-lasting, seasoned and works in anarchy. Combine them and there can be no such thing as a dull battle.

It is the fans who should also take care of, as the middleweight division requires new stories. Israel Adesanya has been dethroned, and the new champion is Dricus Du Plessis, and rivals are jostling to the position. Another exciting name to that list may be the breakout win by Ferreira. Conversely, a victory by Vettori over a large opponent will make him continue to be talked about in terms of major bouts in the future.

It is not, therefore, a battle of two guys with differing styles. It is a fight that might redefine the pecking order.

Final Thoughts

Bruno Ferreira vs Marvin Vettori is an all-time UFC battle between red necked storm and old school stank. Ferreira hopes to demonstrate that his aggressive approach can withstand the best. Vettori would like to demonstrate that he is still among the hardest middleweights.

It is such a fight that is unpredictable and that is why fans enjoy it. Will this Vettori armor be shattered by the sheer strength of Will Ferreira, or shall the experienced and hardened soldier bring the new man into deep waters? December will have the answer and one way or another the middleweight division will be shaken in an interesting fashion.
