Bryan Danielson Talks About His Future With AEW And Tony Khan

2 years ago By Sports Desk

One of the world’s most beloved wrestlers, Bryan Danielson, is changing his wrestling schedule to work part-time in the coming year.

Bryan Danielson talked about his future on AEW Collision, and there’s now a new report that sheds light on what this means for the American Dragon.

About two years ago, Bryan Danielson decided to leave his WWE career as Daniel Bryan and return to using his real name in AEW. He spent over 12 years in WWE, where he became a five-time WWE World Champion, headlined WrestleMania twice, and is undoubtedly a future Hall of Famer.

At 42 years old with over 20 years of wrestling experience, Bryan Danielson is nearing the end of his wrestling career.

During an appearance on AEW Collision in Cleveland, Danielson discussed his family life. He’s married to WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella, and they have a daughter and son together.

“What’s next? I promised my daughter I would start winding down my career when she turned seven. Right now, she’s six. I’m a man who keeps his promises, especially to the people I love. Time is running out.”

“But that doesn’t mean I’ll retire quietly. If you think I will, you don’t know me. I’m ready to take on new challenges and face top competitors. If this is my last year, it will be the most memorable one.”

“I’m calling my shots. My next challenge is in Seattle, Washington, at Wrestledream, where I want to face Zack Sabre Jr.”

It turns out that when Bryan Danielson mentioned his “final year,” he meant it. According to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, “multiple sources close to the situation have confirmed that Danielson will be transitioning to a part-time wrestling schedule within the next year, though he may continue to make special appearances for AEW.”

This likely means that after his current contract expires in approximately a year (with the possibility of extensions due to injuries), Danielson could continue to wrestle on a part-time basis for AEW while also contributing behind the scenes.

Bryan Danielson is set for a “Dream Match” at the AEW WrestleDream PPV. Following his promo on AEW Collision, AEW’s CEO and GM Tony Khan confirmed that the American Dragon will face the NJPW World TV Champion at the event in Seattle, Washington, Bryan’s home state.

This match is a dream come true for fans of technical wrestling, as both Danielson and Sabre are known for their exceptional technical skills.

Danielson is no stranger to dream matches. At June’s AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, he headlined the show against Kazuchika Okada in another dream match. Despite suffering a broken arm during the match, Danielson emerged victorious, showcasing his resilience and determination.
