“A destiny story.” Cody Rhodes talks about his future in the WWE

2 years ago By Sports Desk

Among the current generation of WWE superstars, one name stands out for his tenacity and dedication to “finishing the story” – Cody Rhodes. Since his triumphant return to the WWE at Wrestlemania 38, Rhodes has been on a remarkable journey, overcoming obstacles and carving his path to greatness.

In a recent interview on “Busted Open,” the enigmatic wrestler pondered the notion of destiny, wondering if his journey from WWE exit to present day was guided by cosmic forces beyond his control. As we delve into Cody Rhodes’ inspiring narrative, we begin to see a tale of destiny, self-discovery, and the unyielding support of his fans.

Cody Rhodes thinks it was his destiny to make triumphant WWE return

Cody Rhodes’ resurgence in the WWE was not a mere twist of fate. After departing the company, he ventured into the indie wrestling scene, determined to establish his own legacy outside the shadow of his legendary father, Dusty Rhodes. Embracing creative freedom, Cody explored his potential on the independent circuit, showcasing his talent and building his name, step by step. Little did he know that this journey would lead him down a path that seemed destined for greatness.

During his interview, Rhodes expressed both awe and skepticism about the idea of destiny shaping his career trajectory. While he may not entirely subscribe to the concept, the series of events leading him back to WWE and his subsequent rise in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and beyond have a strangely orchestrated quality to them:

“I’m not somebody who really believes in destiny,” he explained, “but we’ve got this really odd case for a destiny story. The more I’ve gotten used to being back at WWE, the more I’ve settled in. It can’t be a coincidence, right? There’s gotta be somebody out there, some ultimate booker who’s pulling the string who’s not Vince, not Hunter, not Dusty, not any of those bookers. A lot of people want to see the story finish and that’s the greatest honor to have them all on board even after having dropped the ball once. You gotta look at that and not take it for granted.

From independent wrestling success to the groundbreaking “All In” event, the stars seemed to align in his favor. Rhodes admitted that he could not have predicted the grandeur of his return to the WWE and potential opportunities on the horizon. Notably, his upcoming match against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam looms large, offering the chance to compete for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship currently held by Roman Reigns.
