All 10 Confirmed Matches For AEW Wrestledream

1 years ago By Sports Desk

AEW is adding a new pay-per-view event called WrestleDream to its schedule this year. WrestleDream will take place at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on October 1st, which was announced during the All In 2023 post-show media scrum on August 27, 2023. It has quietly become one of the most anticipated events of the year. This event is dedicated to honoring the memory of Antonio Inoki, whom AEW President Tony Khan referred to as “wrestling’s greatest dreamer.”

Although WrestleDream is a newcomer to the AEW lineup, it appears to be a valuable addition that may continue if the company hosts more pay-per-view events each year. The event boasts some highly anticipated matches.

The excitement surrounding the show seems to be somewhat subdued. Recent reports from Wrestling Observer suggest that this pay-per-view (PPV) could end up having the smallest audience since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

According to information from WrestleTix, AEW WrestleDream 2023 has sold more than 5,000 tickets up to this point, and the venue can accommodate up to 7,566 fans. Even though the ticket sales haven’t reached full capacity, AEW President Tony Khan maintains a positive outlook for the event and has great expectations for its success.

During the recent episode of Saturday Night Collision, a promotional message aired for the forthcoming AEW WrestleDream 2023 event. In this promo, Khan shared the following statement:

“At AEW WrestleDream next Sunday, we will pay tribute to the visionary who laid the groundwork for everything we have today, the legendary Antonio Inoki. This event has been in the works for a year, and it’s dedicated to his memory. AEW WrestleDream is an event you won’t want to miss, as it marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in wrestling history and the dawn of a new era in AEW, all happening live on pay-per-view next Sunday night, October 1.”

On the September 9th episode of Collision, Bryan Danielson hinted that this might be the final phase of his wrestling career. If that’s the case, he wants to go out on a high note. As a result, he has challenged Zack Sabre Jr. to a match at WrestleDream, a match that was initially scheduled for Forbidden Door 2022 but was postponed due to Danielson’s injury.

WrestleDream is expected to be a significant night for Danielson, especially in front of his hometown fans. If Danielson’s career is indeed winding down, it gives fans all the more reason to savor matches like this against Sabre Jr.

At the time of writing, WrestleDream had ten confirmed matches, including five championship contests, a dream technical match, and a blockbuster encounter between two wrestlers facing each other for the first time. Here is everything you need to know about AEW WrestleDream.

The event will begin with a Zero-Hour pre-show at 7 pm EST and 4 pm PT, followed by the main card an hour later at 8 pm EST and 5 pm PT.

Once you’ve determined the start time, which matches should you be most excited about? Well, there will be title matches from AEW, ROH, and NJPW throughout the night. Eddie Kingston will defend his Ring of Honor World and NJPW STRONG Openweight Championships against Katsuyori Shibata, while Kris Statlander will put her AEW TBS Championship on the line against Julia Hart.

The team of Better Than You, Bay Bay will defend the ROH World Tag Team Championship against The Righteous. Christian Cage and Darby Allin will face off in a two-out-of-three falls match for the TNT Championship, and FTR will finally defend their AEW World Tag Team Title against Aussie Open.

It’s worth noting that the winners of that match will go on to face The Young Bucks, The Lucha Brothers, The Gunns, or Orange Cassidy and Hook at a later date. These four teams will square off in a four-way match on the same night.

The Don Callis Family will make their debut as Konosuke Takeshita, Sammy Guevara, and Will Ospreay take on the team of Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi. ‘Hangman’ Page will compete against Swerve Strickland in Strickland’s home state of Washington. And, of course, Bryan Danielson will go one-on-one with NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre Jr.

The latest addition to the match card, following this Wednesday’s Dynamite episode, is Ricky Starks vs. Wheeler Yuta.
