Erin Blanchfield Outlines Future Plans After Noche UFC Results

1 years ago By Sports Desk

UFC women’s flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield recently laid out her future plans in the aftermath of Noche UFC. The fast-rising 125-pound contender is widely considered among the best prospects in women’s MMA. She’s on an incredible nine-fight win streak and is expected to challenge for the title soon.

The highly anticipated Noche UFC event went down last weekend and was headlined by an exciting Valentina Shevchenko vs. Alexa Grasso flyweight title rematch. Their fight did not disappoint at all, with blockbuster back-and-forth action for five rounds. It’s safe to say that Shevchenko and Grasso fought with utmost intention and gave it their all.

After five thrilling rounds, the Shevchenko-Grasso fight resulted in a controversial split-draw decision. Due to the contest having no clear winner, the Mexican flyweight queen retained her championship. However, the controversy spilled out of the octagon. ‘Bullet’ claimed that the judges were influenced by Mexican Independence Day and couldn’t let a Mexican champion lose the title. She then implied that she’d like a trilogy to wrap it up.

While the UFC hasn’t officially announced the next steps for Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko, many expect Erin Blanchfield to step up as the next title challenger. Notably, Blanchfield was in attendance at Noche UFC at the T-Mobile Arena. Expecting a conclusive result, she was hoping to call out the winner.

Unfortunately for Blanchfield, the fight ended in a split draw, and rumors of a trilogy rematch are already warming up. If the UFC decides to go for it, ‘Cold Blooded’ may have to wait till next year to get her championship opportunity. However, Erin Blanchfield isn’t worried.

In an interview with The Schmo, Blanchfield stated that she’s open to fighting Manon Fiorot next if Grasso is busy. While she believes she should be the next title challenger in line, she understands how the game works. Furthermore, Erin Blanchfield also claimed that she had Valentina Shevchenko winning the fight and dismissed the 10-8 final round.
