Kris Statlander Joins Criticism Over Signing Autographs Outside Of Work Hours

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Since images of Rey Mysterio refusing to sign a huge amount of autographs to some signature hunters at an airport were leaked, the wrestling community has had a lot of debate about the privacy of WWE and All Elite Wrestling stars, although the problem also extends to fighters on the independent scene.

There have been many wrestlers who have come to the fore to talk about this matter, although many prefer not to comment on the issue in public. Kris Statlander, current TBS champion, was recently interviewed on Busted Open Radio, where she analyzed the situation and revealed that she felt upset about having to put up with people who do not respect her moment of privacy.

“I don’t like fans waiting at airports and hotels. Technically we’re not working at the time, and most travel has been so hectic lately that many of us don’t bother putting on a happy face. Some of us have a “There’s a lot of real-life stuff to deal with, and it’s like sometimes we’re not always our best selves, especially when we’re travelling. We don’t feel our best.”

“Also, knowing that I’m going to a hotel and there are fans there, feel like I need to relax and have some privacy and some free time. Unfortunately, people feel so comfortable violating our privacy.”

Kris Statlander did not specify whether her case was exclusively about signatures or also included the problem of autograph hunters, people who ask talents to sign a large number of products to resell them on the Internet. The talents in question are engraved to certify that the signature is authentic. In recent months we have seen some worrying cases, such as with Alexa Bliss (before she became pregnant) and Jeff Hardy.

Kevin Nash was one of the few wrestling personalities who has advocated signing autographs after hours. Through his podcast Kliq This, he pointed out that many wrestlers become “assholes” when fame comes to them.

“Then there’s always the guy who wants to tell people while he’s eating at the Waffle House with the rest of the guys that he doesn’t mind being bothered when he’s eating good food, you know? It’s like, do you want a photo? Come here, sit next to me. Do you want me to sign something for you? Here. You learn that in this world if someone wants your shit, you sign something for them. It takes 30 seconds to do it, but it takes four minutes to be an asshole and explain. Why don’t you go sign something,” he concluded.
